Hi! My name is Tak, and I’m a motorsport photographer based in San Francisco, CA. I was born in Hong Kong and moved to the USA in the early 2000s. I’ve been a huge car guy and a technology nerd ever since I was a little kid. I love mechanical things that move fast, but I also enjoy freezing fast-moving action to showcase how fast they are actually going.
I started my photography journey back in high school when I came across a camera my older sister bought to do product shoots for her e-commerce business. I soon fell in love with photography and began shooting landscapes like many others. In 2022, I was invited to watch a GT race by a close friend of mine who happens to be a mechanic for a BMW GT4 works team, and naturally I brought my camera with me to capture the moments. That’s where I discovered my passion for motorsport photography.

This definitely started out as my trusty 70-200mm for the zoom. But as time goes on, it has evolved into the 24-70mm for me. The wider view and being able to bring in the different elements such as the crowds into the shots helps draw out the story for the viewers. 

My favourite race circuit is:

I'm fortunate enough to be living next to two very famous and iconic race tracks in the USA (Sonoma Raceway and Laguna Seca), but I have to give this one to Laguna Seca. The fan access for photography is amazing, racing action through the elevations makes the racing exciting and who doesn’t like the dramatic drop of the infamous "Corkscrew". 

My bucket list event for 2026 is:

There are quite a few races I would love to attend to photograph at, but the one that stands out the most as my all time bucket list would probably be the Le Mans 24H.
